WELCOME! "You had a choice, and you choose to shop with us, thank you." May 1, 2009. Where did April go? The dye pots are a brewing again. We have had a blast this past month, hence why no updating to our website - obviously. It started out the end of March dyeing like a maniac and trying to get ready for shows and orders, and then we left to go to a most wonderful bienniel show called the Fiber Forum down at Lake Junaluska in North Carolina. Gorgeous is all I can say. After the show was over, debb and I moved the party barge over to a very small RV resort on the river and lo and behold only to find out we were at the base of "Cold Mountain" the place the book and movie was based on. That was thrilling. One of our new colorways is actually based on the Blue Ridge Mountains, and another one is Mountain Greenery as we had the opportunity to pass through them many times this year and I am constantly in awe of the natural beauty and magnificence of them. The Party Barge is still looking like it went through a war of the snow/ice age here in Michigan and it did. But slowly in-between shows, we are getting it back into shape. debb and I ask a lot of our traveling chariot but we also maintain it engine wise more then recommended to keep us safe and sound on the road. I never thought in a million years that the gypsy life was for me, but I absolutely love it. The traveling tires me out, but the countryside and the people we get to meet I wouldn't trade for anything. It's a blast! Weavers please note, we are finally starting to add lines just for you! After a month of searching, writing to China and back - really, we finally found a reasonable source for the much sought after Tencel. Our first offering will be 10/2 the end of July at MAFA! Then on to MLH and their 50th year celebration-amazing. Each colorway will be solid colorways that are similar to what make up our multi-colored current offerings of fibers and yarns. They will be limited runs. The old adage, should have bought it when I saw it totally applies. Since so much of my original training was that of a colorist, I am thrilled to be able to do what I have always wanted to do, design, color, dye, what have you textiles in any manner as I see fit. I had always wanted to design colors and patterns used on textiles ever since I was three. I guess I am finally getting my wish!. For those of you coming to our website for the first time, please note, Color Ray 1" is by demo in our booth only (read as "FREE" to you!). You may catch a demo at any of our shows - we will have a schedule posted, and if the times don't work out for you, gather up at least 4 friends and schedule your own. You can download the workbook for your own personal use under our "Workshops & Programs" page, scroll down to the Color Ray 1 description for the link. Thanks so much everyone for believing in us at our shows, and if we haven't met you yet, we hope to thru our offerings here online. Everytime I meet someone for the first time, and even many times after, you warm my heart with your creativity, willingness to try something new, or just sharing funny stories with us. Carol, debb, Boo, Mitzi & Jingles Just a quick note: while many have tried pegging Carol's work as that of an "indie dyer" the term for her work is called a "colorist." She received her degree in textile science with plans of creating designs and colors on textiles. The medium most current clients are familiar with is her dyework, however, other the next few years, plan on seeing many other offerings using different types of color applications. Mission Statement: To provide the finest of fibers for all fiber enthusiasts. |
